Congressman, U.S. House of Representatives
The son of Arkansas sharecroppers, Rep. Danny Davis was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, representing the 7th Congressional District of Illinois, in January 1997. He particularly advocates for issues related to criminal justice reform, poverty, education and healthcare access.
His proudest accomplishment? Helping people understand that change can happen: “All things are possible if you believe they are. I’d just as soon believe I can fly as believe that I can’t.”
“I still love to listen to Sam Cooke’s 1963 classic song, ‘A Change is Gonna Come.’ Change is often more covert than overt, more evolution than revolution.”
